Middle School Program

"Super Protection from Superbugs: the Fight Against Antibiotic Resistance"

Our Middle School Education Program is broken up into two different formats to fit your needs, an introduction program and a full lesson plan.

The Introduction Program was designed for an Antibiotic Ambassador, such as a volunteer college student, to go into a classroom and present followed by a science teacher completing the full Middle School Lesson Plan. However, the introduction program does not need the full program to follow for it to be effective, and can be used on its own by an ambassador or teacher.

Both programs are designed for use in grades 5-8 and includes information about where germs live, how to prevent the spread of infection, the differences between viruses and bacteria, how antibiotic resistance occurs, appropriate antibiotic use and potential side effects that may occur.

What will be taught using this program

  • Where germs live
  • How to prevent the spread of infection
  • The differences between viruses and bacteria
  • How antibiotic resistance occurs
  • Appropriate antibiotic use and potential side effects that may occur
